At ShowTell by Amber, developed by Sethi De Clercq, we believe children's creative tools must protect their privacy by design. We build software that respects children, parents, and educators.

The Short Summary: ShowTell operates 100% offline. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data, voice recordings, drawings, or photos. No accounts, no advertising, and no third-party tracking scripts exist in this application.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). When you or your child use ShowTell by Amber:

  • No user accounts, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords are created.
  • No behavioral analytics, telemetry, or crash tracking SDKs are embedded.
  • No advertising identifiers (IDFA) or device tracking profiles are accessed.
  • No biometric, face, or voice print data is extracted or stored.

2. Local Device Permissions & Usage

ShowTell requires certain iOS permissions solely to deliver tactile creative functionality on your device:

  • Microphone (AVAudioSession): Used exclusively to record the student's voice narration while drawing. Audio is recorded and saved locally into the temporary project container on your device. It is never transmitted over any network.
  • Camera (AVCaptureSession): Used so students can photograph physical drawings, science specimens, or worksheets directly onto the canvas. Frames remain strictly in device memory.
  • Photo Library Add Access: Used only when the user explicitly chooses to export a finished video or image to the device Camera Roll.

3. Compliance with Children’s Privacy Laws (COPPA & FERPA)

ShowTell by Amber complies fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and European/UK GDPR-K standards:

  • We do not condition a child's participation on disclosing personal information.
  • External links, settings, and in-app purchases are protected behind an adult Math Parental Gate.
  • School districts and teachers can safely deploy ShowTell without parental consent complications because no student data is ever created or hosted off-premises.

4. In-App Purchases & Apple School Manager

ShowTell offers an optional one-time lifetime Pro upgrade. All purchases are processed directly by Apple via the official App Store (StoreKit 2). We never see, process, or store your credit card, billing address, or financial information. In-App Purchases are also available via Apple School Manager with educational volume discounts.
